This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 17, 2009:
'Highest self' implies, firstly, some form of illusive hierarchy within my being and secondly that the issue of self or ego seems to still hamper us even as we search for ' the light'. Hermes ( Thrice great) coined a beauty when he stated ' As above is below'. The observations of the microcosmic and macrocosmic aspects to our universe show the wisdom of his words to be uniformed within physicallity.
Again if we apply hermetic principle to our non physical existence we discovered that indeed there is and never was a 'Higher self'. The ' lower self' just forgot how high it really was.
It's not a case of seeking for that state of mind. It is simply that realisation of being All. Not a fragment of All. Not a slave to chaos with a hopeless dream.
Simply All.

Help

I am struggling to answer this question today and am wondering if the term “higher” self might refer to the self who is still connected to the non-physical world, the spiritual self, not necessarily the “self” who we consider to be the one who is forefront in our consciousness, the ego, the one that worries, the one that suffers, etc.
If you are All, then who or what are all the others who are each a part of life / consciousness in this our world / universe? Are we all illusion? Where do all other living creatures fit in here?
The term ‘higher self’ refers only to the wakened concious state both the words ‘higher’ and ‘self’ are misleading. In other words We are conciously misleading Us. One tip is to stop using the term ‘self’. Self implies separation which is illusory. When we talk about the ‘higher self’ we are in fact highlighting one singular function of Mind. If We apply the term ‘self’ to our individual roles within the universe We tend to miss the boat. My dear Gael
I was not inferring that I alone am All. I was attemping to present an axiom
sadly often unseen. I am All. You are All. We are All. As for the other species
that selflessly tend to our current home……. They never forgot that they were, are and always shall be All.
